AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE ME STILL ASK ME..WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK TO TOWN?
So it's been ages since I've updated. My bad. But if you've known how busy I've been you'd understand. You would. I promise.
Thanksgiving was fun. Food was consumed. Partying at Rebecca's was had. Jake spazzed out as per usual. Good times. Since then I've been working on finals non-stop. I still have one more test tomorrow then it's off to Florida for Christmas and new years with Stephanie and her family. I can't wait. It's funny when I think back to where I was this time last year - this has been one crazy fucking year. In all seriousness, 2005 and 2006 were watershed years for me. This year alone I met a terrific girl and moved in with her, my band recorded an album and played out of state gigs (including WE Fest), I began school full time for the first time in four years (and as of now have confirmed A's in two out of my four classes), saw great shows (Insub fest) and spent more time hanging out with my PPMB friends whom I still can't believe I was lucky enough to meet. Last year I was in my loft ringing in the new year with my friends. This year I'll be in southern Florida ringing in the new year with the woman I love. I hate to keep going back to the well but New Order continue to hit it on the head when they said, "life is strange and life keeps getting stranger every day." Amen.
So since I most likely will not update this thing until after the new year I'll drop my top ten list now:
In terms of albums, a lot of good shit came out this year. Unfortunatley, I didn't have a lot of money this year nor access to a good file sharing program so I haven't heard a lot of it. From what I was able to piece together I got something that looks like this -
5.) AV Club - s/t
4.) Steinways - Missed the Boat
3.) Dead Mechanical - demo
2.) Mcrackins - Bat Out of Shell
1.) Lawrence Arms - Oh Calcutta!
Perhaps next year will be filled with good stuff that came out in 2006. Oh well.
For movies: Snakes on a Motherfucking Plane was the best film to come out. All you haters that didn't see it fucked up big time. X-Men 3 was also good. Descent sucked.
Single of the year: Oh man..it looked like Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie" was going to be single of the year for the past couple of months. I like Shakira. Her 'robot-trying-to-learn-English' voice is somewhat appealing and 'Hips..' is basically an okay remake of "All Night Long." Hell, it's good enough to have Wyclef rapping on it and not be the worst thing ever. But then, like a dark horse, comes Beyonce's "Irreplacable" and beats the shit out of every song this year. Goddamn! To the left indeed!
Worst single of the year: Again, it looked like 'Fergalicious' by Fergie was going to be the clear winner for the past couple of months but then that Gwen Stefani song where she yodels comes out and yeeeeesh. She wins the loser prize.
Phrase of 2007: Either "So Official" or "Do Work." Thanks Rob and Big.
I'd like to thank Stephanie, American Chopper, Sex and the City and Felicity season 2 for helping me out this year. See you bitches in the '07-11. I'm out.
